Cremations at Manikarnika Ghat
Manikarnika Ghat has a great significance not only in Hindu mythology and way of life but also in the philosophies of life and death.
The ghat is historically associated with the Hindu God named Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
Here dead bodies are brought with joy and fervor with bands, drums and trumpets in a procession with the shouts of words RAM NAAM SATYA HAI chorused by everyone in the group. It is considered that the one who is cremated at this ghat will attain Moksha, the salvation and get directly intermingled into the Lord Shiva.
